Troubleshooting a Cable Modem when the Send Light is Blinking

Entertainment May 1, 2020

The send light on a cable modem indicates your upstream status. When the send light is solid, there is a solid upstream connection between the cable modem and the CMTS.  If it is continually blinking without ever going solid , there are a few troubleshooting steps that can be done.

  1. While leaving the power connected, remove the coax cable from the modem.
  2. Let the modem sit idle until the receive light starts blinking.
  3. Remove the power from the modem.
  4. Reconnect the coax cable to the modem.
  5. Reconnect the modem’s power. If this did not resolve the issue, please have a staff member call into the office.
